|| ALICE IN A WELL ||
Alice while roaming in Wonderland one day found a well. She couldn't see anything inside it. Her friends shouted not to lean too much. But despite their warning, she leaned on and fell into the dark well. At first, she found it very amusing, she attempted to climb out a little, but a voice spoke in her head, “It will be fun here alone with no one.”
As time passed by, the amusement started fading, she started feeling lonely, she missed her friends. She sought refuge in the darkness of the well and found it in the voice inside her – a friend of sorts. Whenever she wanted to get out of the well, the voice inside her head said, “There is nothing outside, nobody wants you, everything you are and need, it is all here.”
One day, Alice realized that the voice inside her head was deceiving her, telling her wrong things, leading her deeper into the darkness of the well. Panicked, she started climbing the walls of the well, but she realized she was too weak by then. The darkness of the well had been playing mind games with her all along. She tried hard again and again to climb up, but they went in vain.
She prayed that someone would come, someone would listen to her silent screams, and someone would save her. Alas! No one came. She almost gave up hope. She accepted that this darkness was her abode, this is what she deserves. She immersed herself into a soul-less living and accepted that the voice in her mind was her best friend, her only friend.
Suddenly one day, Alice saw a bright face peeking into the well, reaching out a hand to her. Alice thought this was another of the well’s mind games. But the person kept calling to her, “Take my hand! You can get out of this! Just take my hand!” Alice was scared, but she took the hand anyway. As the hand tried to pull her out, the well let loose old roots that grabbed Alice and tried to pull her back with all its power. Alice looked back at the darkness that was too powerful, but the bright person shouted, “Don’t look back, they are all mind games.” And the person with one last mighty pull, got Alice out of the dark well into the fresh sunlight.
Now, Alice could see the person who helped her – see it all clearly. The person resembled her face. Alice looked into her own eyes with awe and asked, “Who are you?” The person replied in a clear confident voice, “I am you!”, and dispersed into golden dust as it entered Alice’s heart. Alice was now free – she could see the sun clear and bright.
